Recently the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) in collaboration with the UNESCO Cultural Sector has developed the 2009 Cultural Statistics Framework, which sets forth concepts and definitions to guide the collection of comparable data in the area of culture. This framework replaces the 1986 version, and is a result of a consultation process which has included international experts, as well as representatives from several Ministries of Culture and National Statistic Offices. The aim of the framework is to facilitate a comparative approach through a common understanding of culture and by using standardized definitions and classifications.

More than 1.500 cultural operators in the Greater Region have become member of plurio.net and are submitting regularly their information on events, projects, venues and organisations.

Le Prix Edward Steichen 2010 a été attribué ce mercredi 3 janvier à l’artiste française Bertille Bak. Proposée par Laurent Busine, le directeur du Musée des arts contemporains du [Grand Hornu] à Mons, Bertille Bak a recueilli l’unanimité du jury pour « la finesse et le caractère innovateur » de son travail.

Zur Vorbereitung eines Museumsbesuchs mit Kindergartenkindern oder Grundschülern hat das Stadtmuseum Simeonstift Trier einen so genannten „Museumskoffer“ entwickelt. Er stellt Lehrern eine didaktisch aufbereitete, leicht zu transportierende Materialsammlung für den Unterricht zur Verfügung. Ein Begleitheft informiert über die Trierer Stadtgeschichte, die Aufgaben eines Museums und einzelne Exponate. Themen wie die Baugeschichte der Porta Nigra und des Simeonstifts, die Entstehung des Marktkreuzes und für die Entwicklung Triers wesentliche Epochen und Personen werden darin näher erläutert.

Die ISEA2010 RUHR, 16th International Symposium on Electronic Art, gehört zu den wichtigsten internationalen Festivals für elektronische Kunst. 2010 kommt sie als ein Projekt der Kulturhauptstadt RUHR.2010 erstmals nach Deutschland und präsentiert in Dortmund, Essen und Duisburg aktuelle Entwicklungen der Medienkunst aus aller Welt. Am 5. Februar gab die ISEA2010 RUHR in Berlin, in der Vertretung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen beim Bund einen Überblick über ihr Programm.

Das Kulturzentrum mit dem Auditorium des Cité dient als kulturelle Veranstaltungsplattform für die Bürger der Stadt Luxemburg und der grenznahen Gebiete.

During the European Year "Creativity and Innovation" 2009, the European Commission invited all professional and amateur photographers, photography students and all other talents to submit their photographs to the “Imagine a new world” photo competition. It was open to anyone who is resident of an EU Member State or candidate country or of Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway and who shares our passion for photography. This was an opportunity for people to express what creativity and innovation means to them.

The 8th annual National Digital Forum conference was held in Wellington on Monday 23 – Tuesday 24 November 2009 at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Experts from all around the globe gathered around the topic of the conference: "Being online now: culture, creativity, community".

The "Agence luxembourgeoise d'action culturelle" and the European Contact Point Luxembourg have met ETIKA, an initative for alternativ funding of cultural projects.

Etika is a non for profit organisation that aims to promote alternative funding opportunities and to think about ethical dimensions in investment of savings. Etika targets the accessability of loans for initatives promoting: 

- social and cultural benefit
- international solidarity 
- ecological support

in Luxembourg and developping countries.

La 9ème édition du « Prix d’Art Robert Schuman » se déroule jusqu'au 3 janvier, à Metz. Ce Prix, doté d’une récompense de 10 000 €, est décerné cette année à l’artiste Julien Grossmann de Metz.

'Travelogue', a transnational project, aims to link and exchange data about international touring in the performing arts. It is an initiative of SPACE, a new European network devoted to Supporting Performing Arts Circulation in Europe. One of the aims of SPACE is to enhance data exchange and to develop research about international mobility in the performing arts production. To meet this objective, Travelogue will be developed, an online prototype meant to map the international mobility of the performing arts using Semantic Web technology.

Culturemondo is a network of people who are all working running, managing, building or editing cultural portals around the world. It is open and free to anyone working in this area to join, wherever they are from.

The members of culturemondo meet every year somewhere on the planet to discuss new trends and to find answers to crucial questions of there working field. This year, the roundtable will focus on two major items of discussion:

• How do we measure the economic and social value of cultural websites? This will raise issues of metrics, evaluation etc.
• A report on the recent survey of sites carried out by Culturemondo. What trends, issues and future directions are suggested by the survey?

The plurio.net cooperation benefits from the expertise of culturemondo since 2006. Since 2009, plurio.net is an active member of the International Steering Comittee of Culturemondo.
