"Association Cultural Space Greater Region”

Logo Espace Culturel Grande Région asbl

With the foundation of the association on 28 April 2008, the positive effects of the cultural cross-border cooperation in the aftermath of the Capital of Culture year 2007 are continued by the association “Cultural Space Greater Region”. The goal is to bring all involved political administration units of the sub-regions together and to decide on a collective work programme. At the same time the contact persons of the sub-regions stay also regional coordinators

In the meantime the administrative arrangements have been completed, the statutes have been adjusted and the association was founded according to Luxembourgian law. The logo was created with the significance of the Capital of Culture year in mind. An INTERREG application is in the decision-making process. The partners involved assured co-financing for this purpose. The particular sub-regions support cross-border projects within their financial possibilities, which are advised by regional coordinators.

The work programme of the association covers the development of a common strategy for a cultural policy of the Greater Region, the motivation, development and companionship for cross-border cultural projects, the formation and professionalisation of competence networks, the promotion of mobility, communication and creation of common activity spheres between the areas culture, education, qualification and tourism. For this purpose the association is using the artistic potential of the Greater Region to define cooperation areas.

Already in the year 2008 the association started to bring the experts of cultural administration together, in order to inform about the situation in the sub-regions, to identify possible cooperation areas and to prepare public themed round tables. Expert talks about the topics of theatre, film, music, social culture, literature, dance, and performing arts will be offered from 2009 on.
